Wills Transcriptions

Wills are an important source of information for family history. There are few wills and testaments in Shetland before the 19th century, but there are wills of Shetlanders to be found all round the world and these often mention family at home.

We are collecting all wills of Shetlanders, no matter where they were written and proved. A team of volunteers are transcribing these and the results are to be found in the Members’ Area of this website.
